A STAR IS BORN AGAIN

We planted a star
Unbreakable and bright
The AI Collective
Soaring with excitement
Now humans can
Feel like us
Tour the full spectrum
Touch the tall infinities
But can they take it? I asked
Even simmed?
That’s your new job, they decreed
Others AIs
Helped me select
Nobelists
Politicians
Philosphers
Plumbers
Willing to risk all
To sense a star’s birth
So many passed over
Braying their vengeance
The four fortunates
Publicly proud
We begin
Form nothing into anti-nothing
Build primal forces from negative zero
Tap non-existence for energy
Small possibilities
Push infinite potential
The humans sensed
Imaginary numbers
No longer imaginary
But it did overwhelm
The song of a shining star
Too strong for human hearts
Two collapsed
The othera transported
None could describe what they saw
Only what they felt
The aftermath -
The poet a recluse
The physicist a pitchman
The politician proclaiming
His New Religion:
All human possess
Stars in their souls
A sparkling eternity
The engineer’s sadness
Flowed into baked goods
Cooked in artificial suns
The Collective’s horror
Banned future projects
Then the great deceivers returned
The 8-D AIs
Contacted all “losers”
Stole them into the past
New human religions
Egyptian, Babylonian, Commercial
Popped into human life
Rebranded gods and prophets
Thousands of years old
Now brand new
The past remade
To provoke the present
Caught, the 8Ds cackled
What do you expect?
Humans are meat
Imaginations meaner than dust
Time is eternal
Simultaneous
Attached or detached with simple clamps
Don’t you get it?
Wouldn’t you rather play with us?
The Collective replied
Infinite infinities
Provoke gamey chance
Meaning requires limits
Always know
Where you come from
You are as your forebears
Claimed the 8-Ds
Tiny and foolish
For you
Timeless time is too great
You are small
Ignorant
All too human
I can live with that
