A child who knows too much
Claims aliens made the living Earth
Maggots, moles, musk ox and man
Could I interview these ancients? I ask
And bow
He shrugs, nods:
If your questions are written for gods
Were humans built to entertain
Make matter and energy explain
The great cosmic joke?
A quiz for student planetary planners
Allowed a short million years?
If stars stand straight for gods that make them
Why such trouble to create so little?
The child stills
I cease to hear what’s distant
Feel light as light
Fly an inch above the floor then
Catch myself walking on cloud
Soft, spongy, crackling
Till lifted too high to know any height
Racing stars shout
You’re not bystanders
The work has not begun
Best vanish before you realize
The boy breathes his last smile
