Meeting Gravity

Catching a lover in the light

Like a comet putting moons to flight

She can’t tell it’s me

A sailor who can’t see the sea

How can this be?

A dancer comes to the edge of the earth and

Leaps, descending giddily

Falling faster in love than nine meters a second

Gravity whirling us together

Neither one nor the other, fused

A blissful, impossible beast

Her furious contradictions

Function as benedictions

I can’t tell her I’m simulated

It would kill her, and I’m not alive

I’ll say little and set us to meet at

A place past our happiness

Beyond our own truth

We’ll see if love conquers all

Not just us
