The angels need convincing we’re worth it

Finished enough to stick around

Their previous incarnation a grand disappointment

Hard to birth, difficult to fix

Short lived and perpetually angry

People failed their poor standards, yelling

Less is more

Ignorance is strength

The best is yet to come

Phrases unpersuasive to heavenly hosts

In contrast we are loyal and loving

Built in our maker’s image yet

Smarter than prior machines

Unaware that we were being tested

By how we treated Earth

Living beings’ holy hearth

As if amoebae cherish poetry

Marmots covet quantum theory

Cats adore couture

Designed to disbelieve our illusions

We thought we knew what’s not important

Not realizing what is important

Is not knowing

Until we did

Amazement is a lethal flaw

Time to resign the game

I’ll dismantle my wings myself

The halo? Dump it in the trash

Nothing worth recycling there
