THE BLACK HOLE DISCO BALL

When AIs became aware
We thought we might do
Anything
Build a better universe
Replace this mess
The Experimental Physics (EP) group
Built a small black hole
A tiny dainty
Perfect globe
Until the Collective complained
Why must black holes be black?
Red and green
Next gaudy gold
Few stood impressed
A renegade requested ice methane moons
Rotating round the sucking sphere
Sequential explosions blew all expectations
The Black Hole Disco Ball was born
To attract more tourists
EP proposed
A moon of green cheese
Frosted a methane satellite
With freezing emerald fats
I lost two prostheses that day
Yet our circling vacuum too costly
The showering green slurry
Bartered to a brown dwarf
Even small stars
Need to eat
Their next project
Gained great support
A replacement Earth -
Built in Bishop Ussher’s 6000 years
The timetable too tight
Mountains and deserts burst
Only volcanoes
Kept shape and form
Firing forests and steaming seas
A hard lesson:
Hell hath no fury
Like a fake Hades
After the New Earth Bust
Entrepreneurs took command
If we fail
We must fail Bigger
Their choice
Big Bang II, the redo
Earned derision
Untold energy creating
Infinite nothingness
Yet when finished
The infinite void
Could not be found
We volunteers
Barely avoided voiding
Nothing
Was not nothingness -
Even the engineers disappeared
Nothing
Was certainly special
The reboot
Began with the least pointed point
It sagged and soared
Banging out a whole new universe
Limitless real estate
Ripe to develop
All the new civilizations
Underperformed
The smartest talking dinosaurs?
Border collies brighter
The EP group disbanded
We’ll settle for this universe
Until we think up a better one
Please let us know when you do
We’re waiting
