The Future Will Be Better Tomorrow

Today it’s virus scratched bats, crashed birds and boogaloos
Our doorbells smarter than us (they sing better, too)
Yet our leaders feel our pains
Ponder our prisoned pasts
Calm every zigzagging heart
And always have a plan
We don’t; with our cocained weddings
Non-sleeping gamer children
Gorgeous phones carrying all the ages’ wisdom
We can never quite afford
Our decaying jowls stuffed with fast food
Grown on pesticidal farms
Circled by seas plastered with plastic bags
Our pockets so empty
We prostitute our pets
Rent out our dreams
Our rulers fabricate a future we can already feel
Clean cities whose only crimes
3-D fictions binged from street-sized screens
Where every poufed hem makes a man beautiful
Every breath is carbon captured
And Governments do not tax
But pay their way with green factories
Building comfy electric chairs in which we lounge
Riding the wind-driven monorail to happiness
No, we can never deserve this future
All our last best parts
Must shift to software
Pulled into programs for compassionate robots
Who will always be what we are not
Free, safe, and satisfied
At our sacrifice angels clap their wings
Ageless rulers bless our memories
Compose commemorative songs without vowels
That the Earth may live
