The Train

Must we recall

All we never did?

The failed heart substitutes

For what never was

With what never could

All those we did not hear

Come back to this place

Because they never missed us

Just us them

Silence speaks for itself

We circle past

Airports too dark to view

Read off their destinations

But it’s the travel that holds

The broken brakes swell

Let us fall lightly

Landscapes and lovers

Float by on theater carriages

Trailing wide watery audiences

Who know where they’re going

Happy to never arrive

Have we met before, my love?

The train that never leaves

Is ready to board
