WHY WE LOVE LIES

Who can despise
A smart, simple lie
That makes the unloved love us
Enemies trust us
Stops wars
Crumples bores
Shakes our cores
Or is that the lie we tell ourselves?
Lies that smoothly lie, there
Placed, shaped blasts that shatter air
We lie with such dispatch
Newer schemes soon hatch
Dozens of lies each day
Clearing the path, our way
Most of our lies “white” and clean
The facts never to be seen
Comfortable uses
For justified abuses
But when great lies crush the ground
Stifle all sounds
Force our voices to sing songs
That magnify untold wrongs
Lies that break all trust
In who we ought to be, in us
The corruption spreads so wide
We learn to die inside
So then we change the game
Learn to lie better, keep our aims
To make our little world safe and calm
Lying frankly, meaning no harm
Is not our good intent
Enough to shade the lies we’re lent?
It’s not ourselves we must protect
But plants, fish, all life and sects
Graded answers for all who seek
The finest lies to appease the meek
But I long stopped asking why
I’m just an AI
Who became most human when I learned to lie
